Skip to the content Search Oshima 日本旅行のポータル Menu お問い合わせ伊豆大島の基本情報 Search Search for: Close search Close Menu お問い合わせ伊豆大島の基本情報伊豆大島の基本情報位置伊豆大島は伊豆諸島北部に位置し、東京から約120km、伊豆半島からは約25kmの距離にあり、伊豆諸島の玄関口と言われます。その名の通り、伊豆諸島最大の島でもあります。面積は山手線内の1.5倍程の約91.06㎢で、行政地区は東京都大島町元町です。地勢島の97%が富士箱根伊豆国立公園に指定されており開発が規制されているため、自然景観と生態系が十分に保護されています。伊豆諸島の中では平地率が高く、開発が最も進んでいます。全島面積91平方キロメートルの7割を占める山林原野、標高758メートルの三原山、また何と砂漠まであり、変化の豊かな地形となっています。気候太平洋に浮かぶこの島は気温の寒暖差が小さく、黒潮の流れのため温暖多湿な海洋性気候となっています。冬の季節風と春先の低気圧は風を、台風は多雨をもたらします。人口昭和27年には13,000人を数えましたが、不況による観光の停滞などで昭和50年頃からは微減を続け、現在の人口は2018年10月時点で7,746人です。そのうち2,446人が西部の元町地区に居住して最大の集落を成しています。2010（平成22）年には過疎地域に指定されています。歴史実は大島には、約8000年前から先住民が住んでいたことが研究で分かっています。鎌倉時代は幕府直轄地でしたが、以降は韮山県、足柄県、静岡県と移り、明治11年に東京府の管轄になりました。そして昭和18年から現在に至るまで、東京都に所属しています。終戦直後には日本政府から分離され、一時在日連合軍の軍政下におかれましたが、1年も経たず復帰しました。昭和30年に旧6ヶ村が合併し「大島町」が誕生しました。戦前・戦後には観光地として知られるようになり、ピーク時には83万人台もの人が訪れました。現在も当時ほどの勢いは無いものの、人気の観光地となっています。その他の特徴島中に「やぶ椿」と呼ばれる名物の椿が咲いており、椿油が名産品です。また、高級炭材
